I found a way through. Now I help men find theirs.

My name is Maktuno Suit. I am a psychotherapist and the founder of UNBOUND.

I grew up with a broken relationship with my father and no real role models, so my picture of what it means to be a man was fractured and confused.

When life hit me hard, I didn’t know what to do with the pain. I tried on the old masculine stereotypes: be strong, be successful, don’t feel, don’t need anyone. None of them fitted. I looked for identity in work and performance, chasing the next title and measuring my worth by results. And I looked for relief in addiction, with all the shame, secrecy and double life that came with it.

Finding my way out was a long road. Therapy helped me understand what was underneath. Groups of men gave me honesty, accountability and community for the first time. What I’d been missing all along was what every man needs: other men around him, and help made for him.

Today I’m a therapist, a husband and a father of two sons, with a purpose that doesn’t depend on my job title. I believe deeply in the potential, strength and beauty in men, but I keep seeing how many are stuck, and how hard it is to find help that brings it all together.

UNBOUND gives men what I didn’t have, and gets it to them sooner: a weekly Circle of men working on the same things, practical courses to work through, and one-to-one therapy when you need to go deeper.
